It wasn’t until Dementia affected my family with both my Nan and Father being diagnosed that I became aware of the Alzheimers Society. My family united so intensely in the last weeks of dad’s life all working together literally as busy as bees to support each other, that I decided to create these special collections in not only his honour but for all the people that have been and still are affected by this devastating condition. My collections all have a bee incorporated on them to symbolise this time. When I started looking at the symbolic meaning of the bee, one article simply stated…
“By looking at bees behaviour, social habits, community and environment, we can observe a highly social insect operating within a teamwork-based community creating a symbol of a unified family”.
